| What is the Rainforest Roadshow? Dave
set up the Rainforest Roadshow in 1990, initially working in schools with the aim of
bringing the rainforest topic to life. He has combined his inimitable sense of
humour, extensive knowledge and experience, with genuine products and artefacts, to bring
an informative and entertaining glimpse of the rainforest to audiences at schools and
public events throughout the UK, with much emphasis on the way of life of indigenous
people and their role in the rainforest ecosystem. Sue joined Dave as a full-time
Roadshow presenter in 1999.
The aim of the Rainforest Roadshow is to share some of the magic and encourage
a greater understanding of this fascinating ecosystem, in the hope that we can save it for
the indigenous tribal people and for future generations.
The Rainforest Roadshow have undertaken presentations in hundreds of schools
and at venues throughout the UK, including the Royal Institution, the Royal Society, Royal
Botanic Gardens Kew, Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, Science Museum London, Museum of
Science & Industry Manchester, Warrington Museum, Wakefield Museum, Birmingham
Botanical Gardens, Chester Zoo, London Zoo, Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, Techniquest and
for events such as BAYSdays, Aberdeen Techfest, Derby Sci-Tech, Bourne Science Festival,
Wolverhampton LA21's Green & Kickin' and Sheffield Children's Festival.
Both Dave and Sue have appeared on BBC's Bitesize series and a video diary from
one of Dave's trips to Ecuador is featured on the BBC's science programme, Short Circuit.

| And ....? On
our trips we do lots of photography and filming (our first full length video production
for primary schools is featured on the Education Resources page), and bring back a
selection of artefacts for our own use with the Roadshow, but often a few extras too.
Dave also tries to keep some time available in his diary to give talks to adult
groups, both general interest and specialists.
