Schools Programme

Suitable for both primary and secondary schools, Dave or Sue are available to visit schools for full days with a flexible programme to suit your needs.  The day can include a series of repeated presentations or a mixture of presentations and workshops for a single year group or class, according to the requirements and abilities of the pupils.

Products and Artefacts

Many primary teachers have found a visit from the Rainforest Roadshow to be a valuable stimulus in teaching the rainforest as a topic or as part of a science, art or environment activity week.

For secondary schools, hour long presentations can be repeated throughout the day to fit in with the restrictions of the school timetable.

Science Festivals/Public Events

For such events we can offer the following options -

With one presenter :
Rainforest presentations for mixed audiences.  Duration from 45 to 75 minutes.   Requirements - lecture theatre or similar

With two presenters:
Rainforest presentations and either
(1) bugs/minibeasts presentations with similar duration/requirements
(2) wildlife/natural history workshop suitable as a timed activity or as a drop-in event in an open plan area

Whilst we travel throughout the UK, please be aware that we are based in Shropshire.  For one day events, due to the time and expense involved, it may be impractical to visit schools if they are too far distant, but feel free to enquire as we may be visiting your area.

Quotes from school visits

"Many thanks for coming in and giving such an inspiring talk.  The pupils were very enthusiastic and talkative about it afterwards, as were the staff - a superb morning."

Secondary school geography teacher, Shropshire

"The children really enjoyed it and learnt so much - your experiences, artefacts and animals really brought it alive for them and the teachers.   It was a really valuable part of our Environment Week".

Primary school teacher, London

"Thank you very much for the magnificent day you gave for us .... To stimulate young minds to understand sensitive environments and appreciate the cultures and creatures they support is an extremely important role.  You achieve this very successfully.

Primary school head teacher, West Midlands

"The level of challenge in lessons is appropriately high. For example, pupils in Year 5 were able to speak and write at an above average level about their views about environmental change. The good use of resources had a major impact on the learning for the lesson. The use of an outside expert speaker inspired a high level of interest and enthusiasm in pupils."
