Adult Lecture Programme

In addition to his extensive education commitments, Dave keeps some availability for evening lectures and presentations for adult audiences.  His knowledge, enthusiasm and humour have made him popular with wildlife groups, as well as with non-specialist audiences, where his skill in communicating the essence of his subject and making it both entertaining and enlightening, is greatly appreciated.  Lectures are illustrated with our own slides, as well as with real items.

The duration and content of lectures is flexible to fit in with the requirements of the venue and the audience.   Questions are encouraged.   Signed prints, postcards and unusual tribal artefacts are usually available for sale.

Never work with children and animals

The trials and tribulations of Dave's life as a leading science communicator in schools throughout the UK.  The lighter side of educating young people about conservation and consideration for the natural world.

Its a real bug's life

A quirky look at some of the larger, more exciting members of the invertebrate world.  Let Dave guide you through the facts and fiction surrounding some of the most misunderstood animals on earth, with anecdotal memories from Dave's early career breeding and working with these exotic creatures.  Dave will be supported by a cast of living invertebrates - a chance to confront your fears head on!

Tribes, teeth and tarantulas

Dave has a special fondness for the Amazonian region of Ecuador and this talk allows him to relate his experiences in this beautiful and biologically diverse environment.  It particularly focusses on some of the friendships he has developed over the years, especially his time spent with the Waorani, a proud warrior society fighting to retain their cultural identity in an ever changing world.  Although primarily a photographic presentation, this talk also features a variety of genuine Waorani artefacts.
